The Book Club!

So Christineff, my best-asian-friend, posted this blog about reading Jane Austen’s books and invited others to join her. Well, I happen to love to read and thought she had a good idea so I found some of Austen’s books on sale and, deciding on the spot to join Christi, I bought three of them. Adding that to the one I already own I now have a collection of four of her popular books. We have begun reading “Emma” and so far, I’m not going to lie, it’s a little slow…but then again I’ve only read three chapters. I’ll post often about the books!

The Austen books in my library:

  • Emma
  • Persuasion
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Sense and Sensibility

Anyone know where I can get some more for cheap? Also, if you’ve read any of these books, let me know how they are. Just don’t tell me what happens! 🙂

P.S. At Barnes & Noble, where I found the Austen books on sale, I also found a huge cookbook of all sorts of chocolate recipes! It was only a dollar! AMAZING!

  1. I have no idea if they still carry it, but I bought a book containing all of her works from Sam’s Club about a year ago. I wish I could read with you guys!

  2. I’ve read Pride & Prejudice…it’s a great book! It’s just one of my favorite love stories period. I’m gonna try & join ya’ll in reading some more Jane Austen. I just haven’t made it to the library/bookstore yet.

  5. Joy–Join us! We’re not meeting in person or anything. This is independent reading and maybe a few phone calls, emails or something (I’m not really sure) to talk about it. This would be something cool for you to do when you aren’t working!
Kelly–I’ve read P & P once in high school too. I read it because I *had* to so I wasn’t so enthused about it and I don’t really remember a lot of what happened. I hope it’s better the second time around!
Christineff–I’m sorry about the name thing. It won’t happen again. 😉 Just kidding.
    Brady–when I find a good recipe, I’ll let you know. 🙂

  6. Um…could I borrow that chocolate book some time? You know my addiction!..;D

I’m in Narnia right now…but enjoy Austen. Maybe that will be my next feat….slow steps first though!
