More Movies!

Since my last post on movies, Cody and I have seen several more. Actually…we’ve seen a ton.

• National Treasure 2 – Much like the first. Really good…despite Nicholas Cage.
• The Jane Austen Book Club – see original post.
• Catch & Release – My expectations were too high for this one. It was really sad.
• Fool’s Gold – Two words-Matthew McConaughey. Actually, this was more action than romance. It was pretty good.
• The Butterfly Effect – Really plays with your mind. Pretty good.
• Saw – Hated this one. Not a chance I’ll watch the other three. Ever. I really don’t mind scary movies, but this wasn’t just scary…it was sick and twisted. I can’t take that.
• The Dark Knight – Oh my goodness. There are no words. This movie was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m not exaggerating.
• Mamma Mia! – Really good. I love ABBA and cheesy musicals. Pierce Brosnan was Hannah’s favorite part.
• The Bucket List – Fantastic movie. Loved it and cried like a baby.
• Star Wars – Wow. I’ve never been lucky enough to see the old Star Wars movies but it is Cody’s goal to get me through Episodes IV-VI. I like it so far!

So I’ve seen ten movies in the past week or so. It’s a really nice way to relax after chasing around two-year-olds all day. I love my job, though.

For the record, The Jane Austen Book Club, Catch & Release, and Fool’s Gold I watched by myself when Cody was in NC for District Conference. I saw Mamma Mia! with a couple of girlfriends. So don’t give Cody a hard time about watching girly movies…

Oh Jane Austen…

I just finished watching The Jane Austen Book Club and it was really good. And by “good,” I mean it took me through every emotion and back again. I felt love, hate, anger, happiness, sadness, frustration and emptiness just by watching this movie. Oh the tears that fell…

I can understand your drive to read all of Austen’s books, Christineff…I’m right there with you. As far as reading goes, I’m a little behind you, Christi. I’m starting chapter 5 and I anticipate reading a lot tonight. Out of pure emotion.

Cody is in North Carolina for a couple of days and this movie made me miss him even more…I can’t wait for Friday…

This is why I love my job…

It’s moments like these that make it all worthwhile.

Movies! Movies! Movies!

So for the past few days, Cody and I have gotten on a movie kick. Cody has a subscription to Blockbuster where he can rent an unlimited number of movies, two at a time, for a set price per month. It’s a really good deal and one that we will be using frequently.

The movies we’ve seen recently:

• Deja Vu – Must pay attention to details. Pretty good movie, though.
• Donnie Darko – This movie is so weird. After watching it a second time, however, I really enjoyed it. Still really weird.
• 300 – Good “battle” movie, I guess. Really captivating. Gerard Butler.
• Night Watch – I really didn’t like this one all that much. Vampires and blood and gore. One really cool element is that it is in Russian but has the most creative English subtitles.
• Once – Independent film. Modern-day musical. Awesome soundtrack.

There are two more movies on our list to watch tomorrow: The Bucket List and National Treasure 2. My expectations are high for The Bucket List.
